Every year, International Women’s Day brings a wave of inspiring messages, celebratory posts, and calls for equality. But for many young women hoping to build careers in competitive industries, inspiration alone is not enough — access and experience matter just as much.

This year, experiential and digital marketing agency, Exposé Marketing Solutions  chose to mark the occasion differently. Inspired by the 2026 International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” the agency hosted ten young women for the internship, moving beyond symbolic celebration toward meaningful empowerment.

Celebrating women is important, but equipping them with the knowledge, exposure, and opportunities they need to thrive is even more critical.”

According to Nnenna Chinedu, while International Women’s Day often brings widespread recognition and appreciation for women across industries, the real impact lies in creating opportunities that equip women with the tools and experiences they need to succeed.

“For us, the theme Give to Gain meant creating a space where young women could step into a real agency environment, interact with professionals, and experience how ideas evolve into actual campaigns,” she explained.

Stepping Into the World of Exposé Marketing Solutions

To commemorate International Women’s Day 2026, the interns were welcomed to Exposé Marketing Solutions ’s Lagos headquarters for a full-day, hands-on learning experience.

Unlike traditional career seminars or panel discussions, the programme was intentionally structured as a working-day experience, allowing participants to actively engage with how campaigns are developed and executed in a professional agency environment.

The day began with an onboarding session introducing the interns to Exposé Marketing Solutions ’s culture, approach to experiential marketing, and the role each department plays in delivering impactful brand campaigns.

Team leads and senior executives walked the participants through the core functions of their respective departments, including Strategy, Creative, Digital & Media, Client Service, and Production, giving them a clear view of how teams collaborate to bring ideas to life.

Understanding the Power of Strategy

One of the most impactful sessions focused on the role of strategy in marketing.

“Strategy is not just about ideas — it’s about understanding people, understanding culture, and knowing how to turn insights into experiences that truly connect with audiences,” the Strategy Team Lead at Exposé Marketing Solutions  shared with the participants.

This session gave participants a deeper understanding of how campaigns are built — from insight gathering to creative execution — and why strategic thinking is central to the success of any marketing initiative.

From Brief to Presentation

The experience went beyond observation. To simulate real-world agency work, participants were given a mock client brief designed to challenge them to apply their learning.

Divided into breakout groups, interns were assigned to different departments where they collaborated with team leads to analyse the brief, develop campaign ideas, and prepare structured presentations.

Working within a limited timeframe, each group translated insights into actionable strategies and creative concepts, mirroring the fast-paced, collaborative nature of agency work.

Empowerment Through Experience

For Exposé Marketing Solutions , the internship demonstrated that true empowerment is rooted in opportunity, not just recognition.

“When organizations create spaces where young women can sit in strategy sessions, interpret briefs, and present their ideas, empowerment becomes real,” Nnenna Chinedu explained. “It’s no longer just about encouragement — it becomes about capability.”

A Takeaway That Lasts Beyond the Day

The programme concluded with a reflection session where participants shared their insights.

“My biggest takeaway from today is that strategy and creativity are skills you develop by actually doing the work,” one participant said. “Working on a brief, collaborating with professionals, and presenting our ideas showed me what the industry really looks like. Opportunities like this make a huge difference.”

Building the Next Generation of Industry Talent

Through initiatives like this, Exposé Marketing Solutions  hopes to encourage more organizations to move beyond symbolic gestures and invest in practical learning opportunities for young professionals.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful way to celebrate potential is simply to create the space for it to grow.
